This feature class contains line features representing 2, 10, 20, and 100 foot contour changes in elevation throughout Chatham County, NC. It is sourced from Quality Level 1 LiDAR data (https://www.usgs.gov/3d-elevation-program/topographic-data-quality-levels-qls) provided by the North Carolina Emergency Management and collected in 2024. 10 meter DEMs derived from the LiDAR data were provided and mosaicked together to create a contiguous raster digital elevation model for the county. Contour lines were derived from this mosaicked DEM with water bodies (Jordan Lake and Harris Lake) masked. The contours were smoothed and simplified. |
