Description: This feature class contains line features representing ten foot changes in elevation throughout Chatham County, NC. The data was downloaded from the NCDOT website in July of 2015 and imported into Chatham Counties' enterprise ChathamGIS SQL database utilizing Esri's local government information model. The contour data can be used in various applications throughout Chatham Counties' different departments and also serves as important layer in Chatham Counties' topographic basemap utilized in various web mapping applications.The contours were interpolated from the LiDAR elevation grid, which represents elevation at a 20-foot cell size with 1/10th of foot Z value accuracy. Expect small errors over open water or sound areas. The LiDAR data was collected in 2007 by NCDOT and the associated derivative contours made available for download from the NCDOT website.
